Exam questions

1. What two conventions have I used & Why?

This magazine front cover uses a direct mode of address, I know this because the person in the picture on the cover was looking straight at the camera when they took the picture. This is so that when you look at the magazine it looks like she is looking at you and this draws your attention. Also they use the words "you" and "your" in some of the cover lines on the front cover to make it feel like they are talking to you. It also has a mix of content because it has some cover lines that talk about cooking, for example "23 pages of deliciously simple recipes" and it also has other cover lines like "easy elegant summer dressing" this shows that the magazine has a variety of cover lines so that lots of people will read the magazine.

2. What are the effects of my Layout, Typography, Colour choice and Language Choice?

The layout of this magazine is symmetrical because it has the main image in the centre and it has some of the cover lines down the right side of the magazine and some down the left but it has an equal amount of cover lines on each side. The writing on this magazine is all black and white apart from the title which is pink this is so that the title stands out more than the rest of the writing.

3. What issues of representation have I presented?

They have done this to attract you to magazine and make you feel like it is talking to you. It also uses a picture of a famous person so that the magazine is more noticeable because most people will know who it is on the front and be attracted to the magazine.
